Artist Statement / Biography

Teena Maaliw-Octaviano (Real name is Kristina, but much known as Teena Maaliw), is a native of Lucban, Quezon. Ever since she was a child, she was fascinated with colors and patterns, hence the love for art. But, after finishing her degree in B.S. in Psychology in CEU (Manila), she migrated to Italy. Setting aside art, she kept busy (aside from work) with travelling, writing and photography. She then returned home after more than two decades, and put up Bimbi Piccoli Learning Center where she teaches art for toddlers, kids, teens and kids with special needs. Then she got back to her first love: painting. She recently joined Lucban Artists Guild last 2019. Her artworks is characterized by a blast of colors. She loves abstract patterns and pointilism. Among her art exhibit participation includes: “Kahawig/Kahalintulad”, December, 2019 at Project Space Pilipinas (Lucban, Quezon), “Childhood Memories”, solo show, January, 2020 at Museo de Lucban, “Ani ng Sining, Galing ng Lucbanin”, Feb. 2020 at Marcos Tigla Park. and “Papelismo Boceto” at Ortigas Art Festival, March, 2020.

She loves travelling and photography as well. But, her first love is painting. Her artworks are mostly characterized by vibrant colors, patterns, and pointilism. She believes that paintings, like photographs convey inner peace and offers that magic moment to the viewer and a feeling of belonging.
